We had a great day at Buffalo Mountain. Rick worked hard to find our elk – it was an insanely cold and windy day so not much was moving. The fact that we had to work made our hunt much better. We had pretty much resigned ourselves to going home empty handed when we finally saw the elk coming to the watering hole. We got our cow elk at the last minute of shootable daylight (notice the lack of sunlight in the photo). Rick was a great guide and a lot of fun to hunt with. Don Smith

Rick and Tammy,
What a nice trip! We had a great time. I especially enjoyed getting to be with my nephew for the first time in years in such a relaxed and fun filled atmosphere; even without getting a trophy kill. I felt Buffalo Mountain Ranch offered the best “bow hunting” opportunity for the money of any place, fenced or open range, that I have ever hunted; and I have hunted in quiet a few places! The quality and quantity of your deer herd is very impressive and especially in light of the fact its management has only just begun. It was clearly excluded from your obligations but Tammy went way beyond any possible expectations in providing cakes, pies, soups, dips, chili and sausage biscuits!!! That could easily become necessary for one’s survival! The deer are another matter! Big, healthy, beautiful, plentiful and not the least of which, wildly wise and acrobatic demons! I hope it suffices just to say that I have never been so “beaten” as I was by your deer! Needless to say it will probably cost me substantially to rectify clothing and bow qualities required by your herd to compete at their level of performance! Even beaten down as bad as we were, we are looking forward to being back as your guests next year; tentatively the last week of October 2009. I’ll even be bringing my two son-in-laws along with Will; that will allow me not be alone in the “missed” category. Thanks again to you both for a grand time in all aspects; especially with the additional benefit of making new quality friends such as yourselves. Thom Wilson 12-08

I had so much fun hunting here! It is such a beautiful place and I can’t wait until next year. I had never shot a deer so I was hoping I would get my first one on this trip, and I did. I was sitting and waiting, and when the sun started coming up the deer started coming in. I was so nervous I couldn’t get my bow to draw back while sitting. I stood up carefully and drew and hurried up and sat back down. Thankfully none of the deer heard me. So this is it; my first time to shoot at a deer. I picked one that was twenty yards out and shot. She ran about 10 yards and lay down. I was so excited. I’ll never forget that day! Thank you Tammy and Rick, you are great! You made the trip wonderful. Sheena Campbell 12-6-08

Rick and Tammy: What a wonderful time Tom and I had during our December hunt! I enjoyed watching so many deer so close and for so long. I saw my “shooter buck”, but even though I didn’t get a shot, it was wonderful to watch him and his does. It was heroic that Pebbles so persistently and successfully tracked my first archery doe; it was a moonlit chase I will always remember! The meat is delicious (like always) and I loved the experiences! See you next year! Thetis Gamberg
