He had been spotted for 5 years here and there, but remained elusive. We were all after him…the “management buck” we called “BIG 6”. The wind was calm that cold October morning at Buffalo Mountain Ranch. I was hunting in a tent under a huge oak tree covered with cedars in the middle of a large wheat field. The sun began to rise and my heart started pounding as I videoed all the deer around me. I had several nice bucks to choose from all within 30 yards. There were 2 big 8 points, 2 tall 9 points, and a wide 10 point, all trophy’s… but the one I wanted was “Big 6” and there he stood broadside at 20 yards! I stopped videoing the whitetail free-for-all and picked up my trusted, Mathews bow. As I aimed at my sought after buck, I remembered Rick’s great advice…MAKE A LUNG SHOT… and I let go. To the lungs my arrow flew and tracking him the 100 yards was easy. My trophy 6 point buck was on the ground! This was the BEST hunt! Tammy Worley

This was my first opportunity to hunt at the Buffalo Mountain Ranch and needless to say, not my last. This was an exciting hunt on a beautiful ranch. I want to thank Rick and Tammy for making this a memorable hunt. I also want to thank Larry for his help as well. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. I have been fortunate to hunt at different ranches but Rick takes his guiding serious and made sure we had a great hunt and an opportunity to take an animal. Thanks again for a great hunt. Once again it’s time to tell Rick and Tammy and Larry a very, heartfelt, sincere Thank You!! Thanks for allowing me to hunt another Buffalo Mountain Hunts, Elk. The greatest part was that you allowed Ken and Richard to join me on my hunt. Each year we try to get together for a brothers weekend. We had a great time spending the weekend at the ranch. Once again, we were treated like we were family. We even had a visit from Pebbles and Scout. I am already looking forward to next January. Thank Ya’ll, Allan Heronema
Thanks for allowing Ken and myself to join Allan on his hunt at Buffalo Mountain Ranch. This allows the three brothers to keep a promise we made to each other, after our father death; that we would either go on a hunting or fishing trip each year. Thanks for the memories, Richard Heronema

Rick and Tammy, Thanks for all the hospitality you showed Jeff and I as we hunted with you this past archery season. We may not of taken any animals home, but we did go away with a real “Lets do this again next year” Frame of mind. I can’t speak for Jeff, but I had several close encounters with lots of deer, turkey and elk. I passed on a doe and a nice buck and thinking back on both encounters, it was the right thing to do. Rick you were so patient with Jeff and I as we would ask which stand should we go to next, you really know the area and have spent a lot of leg work with placing stands, food plots and feeders. All the pictures of the deer with the trail cameras really give you the sense that big buck could walk out any minute. Archery hunting for trophy whitetail gets in your blood and I would not want it any other way. What a rush! Jeff and I are already planning for next year, Thanks again. Greg Levrets
